Spring aids made of Micro Cellular Polyurethane (MCU) can absorb high loads from road events like potholes and speed bumps while also helping the spring system support the vehicle handling characteristics.
MCU spring aids absorb energy from the road and support vehicle handling. With our patented soft entry and linear response, our spring aids help avoid impact harshness while offering a cost efficient alternative to a progressive spring system.
These spring aids typically carry loads over 75 percent of the time, as they are always active in entry, mid, and maximum suspension loading. They are most common in coilover applications.
Vibracoustic can offer multiple MCU material and design options, including assembly with bumpers, dust covers, and saturation cups, or as part of complete air springs.
Another benefit of using Micro Cellular Polyurethane (MCU) is that it can be easily tuned and optimized simply by changing the material’s density. Once the geometry is developed through our standard FEA methods, there is usually no need to change chemistries, or part geometry, which results in a cost and time efficient development process.
